About Lutong Bahay Restaurant
Lutong Bahay Restaurant is a filipino restaurant in Raritan, New Jersey. It is listed at 20 W Somerset St, Raritan, NJ 08869, which places it among the local businesses of Raritan that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.
Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Raritan, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across New Jersey run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.
The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. Typical hours are 7 am–7 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. Its Google rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 122 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.
Raritan is in New Jersey, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Raritan follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Place is not updated but serves its purpose. It feels like a “carenderia” in the Philippines. Tables could seat 4. Has some bar tables to dine to. They got combo for 2 viands and a rice. Street parking. I didn’t see any high chair. Filipino food tastes good here and good quantity serving. Would recommend to try for Filipino food. I see comments that the owner/staff is not pleasant. I think it is because he has some medical issues going on. I heard him talking about his medical concerns to a friend. See images for reference

The food here is absolutely delicious- just look at the pictures! There’s an elderly man who runs the whole place and is there all day, so give him a break if he’s not the cheeriest person you’ve ever met. The point is, if you’re looking for really good Filipino food, this is the spot. The ambiance could use some work but I always get take out. Recommend the kare kare and sisig, although everything is pretty good. And reasonably priced! You won’t be disappointed.

This is one of those places where what you order matters and multiple visits are required to determine their specialty. There is a range as some things are subpar, some acceptable, some the standard good enough and a few shine. Examples: - Subpar: Turon - Acceptable: Tapsilog + BBQ skewer (both arrived lukewarm) - Standard good: Nilaga (lukewarm) - Shining star: Lumpiang shanghai Tapsilog is different in that they serve Worcestershire rice rather than stir fried garlic rice. Egg slightly overcooked. Good news is breakfast is served all day. $7.50 for all options and includes tax. Nilaga is concentrated and a little peppery. Their lumpiang shanghai is fantastic. Freshly fried to order so hot upon arrival. While on the tiny side, the wrapper is beautifully thin and crispy and the filling is wonderfully moist and juicy. Still delicious once it cools down too. Highly recommend ordering this for catering! Small food order area is in the back corner within a larger dimly lit dining area. A nice quiet place to eat in peace.
